Forest School
At Hurst Green Infant School and Nursery we are very fortunate to have green space by abundance and in a small wooded area and on part of the field we are delighted to be able to offer the children Forest School sessions every week.
Forest School is a way of facilitating learning outdoors. It is about being in a special place for a period of time. Forest School sessions are designed to enhance and complement our day to day curriculum from Foundation Stage to KS1. It will offer children opportunities to develop confidence and self-esteem and to experience achievement in the outdoor area. Forest School is based on the idea that children can develop enthusiasm for education through an appreciation of nature. Forest Schools have found to boost pupils’ confidence and improved their behaviour and social skills.
Forest School is holistic learning through play and exploration, children learn about the natural environment, how to handle risks and use their initiative to solve problems and to co-operate with others.
Here at Hurst Green Infant and Nursery School we have two qualified Forest School leaders who fully embrace this learning.
